UNIT: Forces and torques
PURPOSE: Illustrate Newton's II Law in translational and rotational form in a simple event
EQUIPMENT:
1. A meter stick
2. A heavy metal puck
SUGGESTIONS: On a flat table-top, hit the stationary stick with a moving pack near and off CM. Show how the rotational speed of the stick after the collision depends on the place of impact. Does the linear speed of the stick's CM change as well?
