Dr. Isabella (her birth name is PiLing) Huang, the most recent addition to the group, was born in Tainan, Taiwan.

She got her PhD degree in the field of solid state lasers and optics coatings at the Institute of Electro-Optical engineering, National Sun Yat-Sen University (NSYSU) in 2003.  After one year postdoctoral in NSYSU, Isabella  arrived at Wheaton College a year ago, to work with Prof. Xuesheng Chen to investigate properties of ceramic materials. Thus she was integrated in the Spectroscopy Group at Boston College.  Her research now is to focus on laser systems with ceramic materials as the gain medium.

She likes reading, especially Agatha Christie’s mystery novels. She also loves popular music and oil paintings
