Mr. Ottavio Forte accepted a position in the physics department at
Boston College after a full career as a research and development
engineer
Mr. Forte’s experience in control systems for aerospace projects bridges
the gap between academia and industry. He spent over 22 years between
the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory (formerly of MIT) and MIT's Lincoln
Laboratory developing control systems components for such programs as
the Apollo, Poseidon and Trident guidance systems, concluding with
system design, assembly and launch of experimental rockets at Lincoln
Laboratory. He was also a major contributor in gimbaled airborne Nd:YAG
lasers and other optical detection systems in advanced missiles, rockets
and satellites in industry and at the Draper and Lincoln Laboratories.
Ottavio’s enthusiasm in basic physics, and in spectroscopy in
particular, is accelerating rapidly. In a short time he has applied his
vast engineering creativity and experience to physics investigations and
problem solving.
Mr. Forte holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the City College
of NY, a M.S. in electrical engineering from Northeastern University and
a MBA from Boston University.
He lives in Belmont, a suburb of Boston, where his two children, Paolo,
an engineer, and Carla, an artist, were raised. His "extra-curricular
activities" include backyard beekeeping, artistic welding creations, and
more. He likes to enrich his garden with the architectural structures he
designs and with productive honey bees.
