Bennett Goldberg
The coupling of the electronic and atomic degrees of freedom is fundamental to all condensed matter systems, critical in understanding transport, optical, and thermal properties. Yet, direct measurements of this coupling are surprisingly rare. I describe our most recent work where we take advantage of the one-dimensional nature of carbon nanotubes to develop an all-optical means of directly determining the electron-phonon coupling.
