Two New Faculty to Join Physics Department in January 2010

October 5, 2009

The BC Physics Department is glad to welcome two new Assistant Professors, Dr. Ying Ran and Dr. Stephen Wilson, who will be joining the department next semester.

Steve Wilson holds a B. S. and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Wilson’s research interests lie in experimental studies of strongly correlated electron systems including high temperature superconducting copper oxide and iron pnictide based systems. His experimental results were presented in Phys. Rev. Letters, Phys. Rev. B & C, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, and Nature journals.

Please read more about S. Wilson's research areas and publications here>>.

Ying Ran has received a B.S. in Physics from Peking University, Beijing, China and Ph.D. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The results of his research were presented in Phys. Rev. Letters, Phys. Rev. B  and Nature publications. His area of research is quantum condensed matter theory. His main focus of studies lies within the properties of the electronic systems with strong interaction.
