Two New Labs Opened at the Physics Department


Fr. Cyril Opeil, S.J. Laboratory.
Asst. Prof. Opeil's research will be focused on resonant ultrasound and Barkhausen noise in shape memory alloys, such as Ni2MnGa and AuZn. His experimental interests include investigations into the physics of ferroelectric, thermoelastic, thermoelectric, and actinide materials.

Willie Padilla Laboratory.
Asst. Prof. Padilla's research will be focused on experimental studies of semiconductors, oxides, strongly correlated electron systems including high Tc superconductors and metamaterials. The experimental methods will include far infrared spectroscopy and THz time domain spectroscopy. More>>
