Kevin Tierney '09 Receives Best Undergraduate
Poster Award
Junior physics major Kevin Tierney was the recipient of a Best Undergraduate
Poster Award at the 2007 Meeting of the American Physical Society's Division
of Plasma Physics, held in Orlando, Florida. Tierney's presentation was one
of five given this distinction out of over forty undergraduate posters. His
research on dusty plasmas was carried out during the summer of 2007 with
Prof. Michael Bonitz and collaborators at the University of Kiel, Germany,
and was sponsored by the German government's Research Internships in Science
and Engineering (DAAD-RISE) program. Tierney is continuing his studies of
plasma physics as a Research Assistant with Prof. Kalman of the Boston
College Department of Physics.
