Kevin Tierney '09 Receives Best Undergraduate Poster Award

Junior physics major Kevin Tierney was the recipient of a Best Undergraduate Poster Award at the 2007 Meeting of the American Physical Society's Division of Plasma Physics, held in Orlando, Florida. Tierney's presentation was one of five given this distinction out of over forty undergraduate posters. His research on dusty plasmas was carried out during the summer of 2007 with Prof. Michael Bonitz and collaborators at the University of Kiel, Germany, and was sponsored by the German government's Research Internships in Science and Engineering (DAAD-RISE) program. Tierney is continuing his studies of plasma physics as a Research Assistant with Prof. Kalman of the Boston College Department of Physics.
