The Department of Physics acknowledges its AY 07-08 award winners

April 14, 2008

Among our graduate student body, Yiming Xu and Marco Almeida have been selected to receive Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Awards for 2007-2008.  The Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Awards program was established to provide a further stimulus toward teaching excellence by graduate Teaching Fellows and Teaching Assistants.

As for our undergraduates, Physics is well represented among awardees.  This year's Sophomore Scholars include Physics majors Karen Chen, Michael Lawless, Conor Schlick, and Joseph Zabinski.  They are joined in this honor by Physics minor Katherine Dacey.  Sophomore Scholars are academically distinguished members of the sophomore class who have achieved an academic ranking, placing them in the top three percent of their class.

And last but far from least, the Department would like to congratulate James Luo, a Dean's Scholar from the Class of 2009.  The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences selects the brightest scholars from the junior class to be chosen for this honor. Students are selected on the basis of their overall academic performance, recommendations from their departmental faculty, co-curricular initiatives, and their sense of purpose in how they approach their future.

Please join with the Department in congratulating your fellow students on their scholastic achievements.   Kudos to one and all!
