WIth the recent completion of major renovation to Higgins Hall the Physics department has significant research facilities available to its researchers including a state-of-the-art materials fabrication and characterization facility, low temperature/strong magnetic field research laboratories, and a high-speed Sun cluster computational facility.

In addition, the Department of Physics has established ties to many outside facilities, including Los Alamos and Argonne National Laboratories, the Illinois CRAY supercomputing facility, NASA, and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at Florida State University.

Our large and well-equipped O'Neil Library houses over 1 million volumes, and students have access to the vast library resources of the Boston Library Consortium. Boston College's participation in the Boston Area Graduate School Consortium enables students to cross-register for graduate courses at any of the member schools.
